Last month when I photographed the Collier family for part 1 of 3 in this Maternity/Hospital/Newborn series, Mom, Amber, confided in me that the baby would be a girl named Hattie Rose. The nursery was painted gold with roses and big sisters Eden and Priscilla were so excited for Mom and Dad to bring home their new baby sister.
Imagine everyone’s surprise when new baby Collier came out–A BOY! Silas Michael was born March 1, 2013 at 8:03 am at 8lbs 11 oz.
Dad, Brian, promptly returned home to repaint the nursery blue.
When I arrived to the hospital on this quiet Sunday Morning, the sun was softly streaming through the window and the happy couple was resting in the comfort of having a healthy full term baby boy. Silas’ sisters had been preemie twins and had spent lots of time in the NICU before being able to return home, an experience that led Amber to start the non profit organization, Preemie Prints.
The nurse wheeled in the brand new little man and we spent a lovely hour documenting some of the first moments of this little angel’s life. Stay tuned for part 3 where we will take an at-home newborn shoot coming soon!
